So far the quality of the tv is probably about 4 stars. Pretty good picture and sound for my girlfriends light tv use with DVDs & Roku Box.
I just want to let people know that the image shown of the inputs on the back is not correct at all! Even the specifications are kind of misleading. The AV in and Component in are both on shared ports. This makes it so one can have only one Component device OR one AV device plugged in at any given time. This doesn't make any difference to my use, just a heads up to people who might need both.

Haier 32-Inch LCD HDTV Excellent HDTV with a Couple of Problems

What Problems of Haier 32-Inch LCD HDTV

I've had Haier 32-Inch LCD HDTV for over a month and it is still perking along nicely.
It came from Amazon and was marked used - very good. It was not in original packaging.
I was, of course, apprehensive about buying used, but I figured, for the price I would take a chance. A close inspection showed no external wear. I currently get the signal
from a TimeWarner bare cable here in in So. Calif. That is, no set-top box. TW relays over-the-air signals, including the HD ones. The TV tunes the HD signal and produces a picture that is very good to excellent, as good as my recently purchased 26" VIZIO.
Problem 1: When tuned to the non-HD stations, there is a wavy interference pattern in
the background. Back aways form the TV, it's hardly noticeable. This is somehow cross talk from the sound, for when you mute the set, the interference goes away. One could overcome this problem by muting the sound and using the earphone jack to drive some external speakers. I would like to know if others have this problem.
I thought I would try and see what happens if I used an antenna.
Problem 2: The TV will not accept signals from an antenna. This, I understand, is not
what the spec at Haier's home page says. I have not tried it, but I think there would not be a problem if I was using a set-top-box.
So I'm basically satisfied with my gamble.

This TV is a great deal and a solid performer.
After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit skeptical when I first purchased it and decided to hold off on writing a review until I had had it for at least a few months. I got it in December 2011, it is now April 01, 2012. I have not had any problems with it. The speakers are a little weak and if you turn them down too much, the sound gets grainy. But I hooked it up to my own speakers and have it connected to my computer and it works like a charm. It goes into sleep mode if I have it on and fall asleep, my husband plays his XBOX games on it and it has beautiful visual clarity. It is a ridiculously good deal for the price!

A  32 inch with a 2 year warranty at this price is pretty hard to find. The TV is by no means pretty, and it definitely performs like a budget screen. The 720p won't be a very noticeable downgrade for a screen this size. Glare is a big issue for this TV, but the viewing angles are great. I am using these TV for a home sports bar where I need several cheap screens as no single unit will be a focal point, and for that use this TV succeed. For the price I am sure you won't be disappointed.

So far(1 month) it's been great.Super easy set up directions. I had it up on the wall in 15 minutes and was adjusting the color and sound in no time. Again easy directions. Good color.I am very impressed w/how well the screen looks in both HD and reg.settings as well as full screen and normal. It's so real looking, bright, and crisp. I was surprised to find that the TV came w/ a sound leveler for the commercials. I love that feature.I am very pleased w/ my purchase. This replaced a Toshiba 32" LCD that went kaput in less than three years!!! I really like that it came w/ a 2 year warranty. For now I feel I got more than my monies worth and am happy I took a chance on an unknown brand "TCL". They have put together a very good product.--So far so Good!!!

I would of purchased a Samsung, but Samsung let me down on my 55" main set. I fixed the Samsung with panasonic parts. Picture is great for a backfeed for dish, no hd otherwise, but i do have hd on the antenna, and it looks good. nice size for the master bedroom or pool room. you could use it for a main if your on a budget. Panasonic has never failed me, so im expecting a 12 year lifespan for this thing.

I ordered it(60in) from Amazon. Fast and convenient delivery!
For the first 100 hrs avoided playing 4:3 contents mostly and ran almost 60+ hours of slide-show as suggested by D-nice from HDJ (HighDefJunkies). Then switched to custom setting as suggested by him. Highly recommended settings. I typically do calibration myself based on calibration blu-ray that came with my Oppo player and these settings closely match with mine. Black levels are amazing and bezel and blacks merge so well that bezel disappears. I have not done extensive 3D image quality analysis as yet. First impressions and comparison to sharp 70in LED, this one looks better. Reg the hockey and other game issues that people reported, moving to custom settings and defeating few gizmos in advance settings eliminates that modulating brightness. (There seems to be an issue with image processing algorithm that works on average luminance wrt some threshold. It seems to get thrown off with camera flashes in indoor games.)
Regarding the previous comment of viera remote app not working with ST50 - it is baseless. I have tried this app and works flawlessly. I have played back videos from my android phone to the TV by simply swiping! I believe the only feature that may not work with T50 is playing back a content from TV to the smartphone - I have not tried.
For the money at this specific time, this is the best value. If you have this TV perpetually ON all day long, I would worry about electricity bill compared to LED.
